Just for today try to live through this day only, and not tackle my whole life problem at once. Any idiot can do something for twelve hours that would appall them if they felt that they had to keep it up for a lifetime.
Just for today be happy. This assumes to be true what Abraham Lincoln said, that "Most folks are as happy as they make their minds up to be."
Just for today adjust yourself to what is, and not try to adjust everything to your own desires, I take your "luck" as it comes, and fit yourself to it.
Just for today try to strengthen your mind, study, learn something useful, do not be a mental loafer, read something that requires effort, thought and concentration.
Just for today exercise you soul in three ways: do somebody a good turn, and not to be found out; if anybody knows of it, it will not count; do at least two things you don't want to do - just for exercise; do not show anyone that your feelings are hurt; they may be hurt, but today you not show it.
Just for today be agreeable. Look as well as I can, dress becomingly, talk low, act courteously, criticize not one bit, not find fault with anything, and not try to improve or regulate anybody except yourself.
Just for today have a program. You may not follow it exactly, but you will have it. You will save yourself from two pests: hurry and indecision.
Just for today have a quiet half-hour all by yourself, and relax. During this half-hour, sometime, try to get a better perspective of your life.
Just for today be unafraid. Enjoy that which is beautiful, and believe that as you give to the world, so the world will give to you.
